Power Dissipation for LDO

For an Example, The Input Voltage is 5V, Output Voltage is 3.3V 1A. The Difference between Input and Output Power will be Dissipation.The Output will be 3.3V * 1A = 3.3W. In the case of LDO(Low Drop-Out), Input and Output Current will be same.


The Power Dissipation will happen because of Difference between Input and Output Voltage, then the Input Power will be 5V * 1A =5.0W.The Difference between the Output power and the Input Power is the what we are looking for, which in ths example is 5 - 3.3 = 1.7W.
